About Us
Dorothy E. Pugh is the main photographer for this website: if not specified otherwise, all pictures on this site were taken and image-processed by her. She has also designed and written all of the web programming software on this site.
She developed an interest in science as a programmer who worked for 20 years with biologists, chemists, a physicist and a physician. After retirement, she completed General Chemistry I and II, General Biology I, General Physics I and is currently enrolled in Microbiology, all at Durham Technical Community College (North Carolina). Previously, she received an MA from the University of Chicago and completed 39 graduate credit hours toward an MS in Industrial Engineering at North Carolina State University (one of the longest incomplete master's degree programs ever!) Her pre-retirement technical coursework included, among other things, ten computer science courses (two as part of her graduate program at NCSU) and the two-semester graduate course sequence Statistics for Physical Scientists and Engineers at NCSU.
Karl D. Gottschalk provides networking support for the website and set up the hosting service. He is a retired networking professional who spent 33 years climbing the technical programming ladder at IBM.
